The theme music at the beginning of the program, "Juke" by Little Walter, has become a familiar introduction to the weekly show. Mike Jacobs became interested in Blues when he was a student at Technical High School, which is where the KIOS studios are now located. His interest in the music of Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones led him to the Blues artists who inspired them and a deeper appreciation and understanding of the genre. He honed his broadcasting skills as a student of the broadcasting program at Tech and was a member of its last graduating class(1984). Jacobs went on to study broacasting at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where he produced a Friday afternoon Blues program at the student run-station KBLZ. In addition to working at KIOS-FM, Jacobs has also worked at several Omaha area commercial radio stations as on-air talent. Jacobs says his favorite Blues song is Robert Johnson's Hell Hound on My Tail. |
