Omaha, NE – The National Weather Service says another round of severe thunderstorms is headed toward the Omaha metro area Thursday night.

The Omaha metro area was hit with hail, heavy rain and strong winds Wednesday night. The tornadic thunderstorms affected southwest Iowa and areas near Lancaster County.

The NWS says Omaha is under a high risk of severe weather today, with large hail, damaging winds and strong tornadoes possible. Severe thunderstorms could also bring more heavy rain to areas already flooded.

Omaha, NE – Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson says he has serious concerns about climate change legislation currently being debated by the U.S. Senate.

The climate change legislation would require a cap on greenhouse gas emissions starting in 2012. But Senator Nelson says he's concerned about the bill's economic impact on Nebraska, and if the emission cap deadlines set forth in the legislation can even be met.

Omaha, NE – A virtual stock-trading room and business labs are among the features of the University of Nebraska-Omaha's new College of Business Administration. Officials broke ground this morning on Mammel Hall, which is scheduled for completion in 2010.

Construction begins this summer on the 120,000 square foot, $38.5 million building. It's located on UNO's south campus at 67th and Pine Streets in Omaha.

Omaha, NE – Metropolitan Community College is preparing to wrap up another season of the Great Plains Theatre Conference. The Conference continues Friday and Saturday.

The third annual Theatre Conference features 69 playwrights, including 19 Nebraskans. Plays are being performed morning and evening, and aspiring playwrights have the opportunity to have their work critiqued.

Omaha, NE – Omaha ranks third on a business magazine's list of the top ten places in the U.S. to live, work, and play.

Kiplinger's Personal Finance created the top ten list based on factors such as economic development, cost of living, and quality of life.

Mark Wojno is Senior Associate Editor of Kiplinger's magazine. Wojno says Omaha's philanthropy and population growth make the city stand out. He says Omaha has a strong cultural scene, a good job market, and affordable housing costs.

Omaha, NE – The Salvation Army in Omaha and the American Red Cross Heartland Chapter are assisting Parkersburg, Iowa tornado survivors.

Heartland Chapter CEO Tina Price says five of that group's volunteers are in Parkersburg, serving meals, coordinating relief efforts and performing other tasks. Those five are part of a crew of more than 75 American Red Cross volunteers sent to Parkersburg.
