Omaha Zoo Announces Names of Lion Cubs

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The Omaha zoo has announced the names of five African lion cubs selected through a contest on the group's Facebook page.

The Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium said Friday morning that the boy cubs have been named Josiri and Taj. The females have been named Kya, Leela and Zuri.

Visitors to the zoo's Facebook page were asked to suggest names, and zoo workers selected 20 names from more than 5,000 submissions.

Those names were then posted on Facebook for a final vote.

NE campaign staffer quits over vulgar slur

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A campaign staffer for Republican gubernatorial candidate Charlie Janssen has resigned in a flap over his use of a vulgar slur to refer to state Senator Danielle Conrad.

Janssen announced the resignation of Jeremy Jensen on Friday.

Jensen had recently been hired as field director for Janssen's campaign for governor. Before he was hired, Jensen used a vulgar slur in reference to Conrad in a private posting on his Facebook page.

McDermott has 27, Creighton tops Cincinnati 67-63

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Doug McDermott had 27 points and 11 rebounds, and Gregory Echenique scored 13 points to help Creighton hold on to beat Cincinnati 67-63 on Friday in the second round of the Midwest Regional.

Ethan Wragge added 12 for the Bluejays, who won their NCAA tournament opener for the second straight year.

McDermott, the two-time Missouri Valley Conference player of the year and 2012 All-American, made all 11 free throws to help the seventh-seeded Bluejays (28-7) move on to play Duke on Sunday.
