Approximately 200 OPS students and their families need your help

OPS Family and Community:

Approximately 200 of our students and their families need assistance.

As many of you know, an apartment complex in North Omaha was evacuated yesterday after the city discovered city code violations.  The living conditions are described as "inhumane."

District Leadership visited the two community centers that have been transformed into shelters to temporarily house the OPS students and their families.  A timeline has not yet been shared regarding how long it will be before permanent housing can be arranged.

Adams and Columbus Community centers are housing students and their families are currently being housed in temporary shelters and the families need basic items until they can be relocated to permanent housing.

OPS Family and Community, let's pull together to help our families.

Goal: Raise $40,000 to help provide enough gift cards to support basic needs for our 200 impacted kids (we would like to provide a $200 gift card to each of our impacted students).

New, unused in-package twin sized sheets, blankets and comforters needed. If you would like to donate bedding, please stop by the Teacher Administration Center and drop off your bedding donation in the Board Room anytime between noon and 6 p.m. today, Friday, September 21st.

TAC staff will also be available from 7:00 a.m. to noon Saturday to take bedding donations.

If you would like to donate online, here's how https://omahapublicschoolsfoundation.org/fundraiser-yaleparkapartmentstudents/
