Digital library named; will open this fall

Omaha’s new digital library has a name.

The library, at 72nd and Dodge Streets, will be called Do Space. Executive director Rebecca Stavick says the name reflects the library’s focus on technology and inclusiveness.

"The name is really focused on action and creation. Libraries have traditionally been a place of consumption of information, whereas this new technology library is really focused on creation. So we really tried to capture that in the name Do Space."

Do Space is scheduled to open in November. Community Information Trust developed and will manage the digital library, which is paid for with private donations.

Stavick says Do Space is believed to be the first library of its kind in the U.S. More information is available at www.dospace.org.
