Earth Day Omaha 2018 set for Saturday

Earth Day Omaha takes place this Saturday from 11-6 in Elmwood Park.

Karri Martin, Earth Day Omaha Coalition board chair, says the mainstage is completely booked all day with speakers and musicians.

Martin says there will be a demonstration tent which will offer informational sessions on a variety of topics including how to plant a tree and how to raise urban chickens.

She says there will also be a children’s tent and a health wellness area where people can learn yoga and tai chi.

"It really is an opportunity to make the city of Omaha aware of just how involved different groups really are in sustainability.  And how active our community truly is in promoting different ways of being sustainable; and acknowledging that the environment is such an important part of our daily lives.”

Martin says the guest speaker of the event is National Geographic Photographer Joel Sartore.

There is no charge to attend the Earth Day events.  For a complete schedule and parking information, the website is EarthDayOmaha.org.
