Fireworks/Gun Amnesty Day set for Saturday

The Omaha Police Department will be hosting a Metro Area Fireworks/Gun Amnesty Day on Saturday, July 8th from 9 until 2 for those who have fireworks or guns they would like to dispose of.

Fireworks, guns and ammunition will all be accepted with no questions asked.

Drop off locations include Omaha Fire State #43 at 5505 N. 103rd Street, Seymour Smith Park at 72nd and Harrison Streets and the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office at 1400 Big Lake Road in the west parking lot.

The Fireworks/Gun Amnesty Day not only disposes of dangerous items at a safe location, but also gives authorities the opportunity to educate the public on the dangers of fireworks and other explosives.

If you are unable to unload the gun you want to turn in, or are unsure if it is loaded, please ask for help before you remove it from your vehicle.
