(Washington, DC) -- A key Republican senator is speaking out about the controversy surrounding the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Ben Sasse of Nebraska gave a speech on the Senate floor Wednesday night and said he had urged President Trump to nominate a woman for the Supreme Court seat months ago. In his speech, Sasse spoke about two personal friends who were raped, and said the #MeToo movement was complicated, but a very good thing. The senator said, "We all know that the president cannot lead us through this time." President Trump continues to support Kavanaugh, who's been accused of sexual assault.
