Heartland Bike Share receives important designation

Heartland Bike Share is now a Platinum-level Bicycle Friendly Business.   The League of American Bicyclists awarded the certification earlier this month.
Ben Turner, Executive Director for Heartland Bike Share, says his organization received the designation for its incentives, programs and amenities that encourage more people to ride bikes.

Heartland Bike Share offers memberships to the Heartland BCycle system, provides a safe place for workers to store their bikes when they ride them to work and has an electric bike that staff may use to get to meetings or grab their lunch.

Turner believes the culture around cycling is changing in our community for the better.

"Increasingly, people in the community are focused on urban mobility, how we get around in our community and I think there’s a growing consensus that we need more options to get around to remain competitive with our peer cities, our aspirational cities and other cities like ours.”

Turner says Heartland Bike Share runs Heartland BCycle in Omaha and Bike LNK in Lincoln.
