Metro Community College begins work on new Center for Advanced Manufacturing

Metropolitan Community College recently began work on its new Center for Advanced Manufacturing.

Derek Rayment, Public and Media Relations Manager for Metro, says the project is a remodel of their current Industrial Training Center on the South Omaha campus.

Rayment says the new center will improve the current space for welding, precision machining and the industrial trades.

Additionally, Metro will offer certificates in several in-demand trade areas including robotics and robotic maintenance.

Rayment says with the renovation, the welding lab will triple in size.

"So it’s a 30,000 square foot renovation within a budget of about 10 1/2 million dollars.  It’s going to include process operations technology and other certificates like robotic certification and troubleshooting for manufacturing operation centers.  Someone can come to the center and gain some really in-demand skills that will make them employable.”

Rayment says the project is slated for completion in the fall of 2019.  For more information, the website is mccneb.edu.
