Metro holds National Debt Trivia night

Think you know a lot about the national debt and want to prove it? Metropolitan Community College is offering you the chance as they host a National Debt Trivia Night Thursday, March 29th.

Amy Forss, Subject Coordinator in the History Program at Metro, says the event is non-partisan and should be educational and fun.

Trivia questions will not only focus on the national debt, but also on Nebraska history and current events.  Teams will be made up of no more than five people and there will be two rounds.

Forss says anyone who is an American citizen needs to be aware of the national debt because it’s an issue that affects everyone.

"It’s a topic that is going to be concerning, especially our college students, because this is something that is at a very high number.  It’s hard to believe that since 1790 there have only been four years that we’ve had 5% higher numbers than we do right now.  That was right during WWII, right afterwards.  So it’s kind of a scary number where it’s sitting.”

Forss says the National Debt Trivia Night is free and open to all.  The event takes place from 5:30 to 7:30 Thursday, March 29th at the South Omaha Metro campus, at 27th and Q Streets.

Refreshments will be provided and prizes will be awarded.  Forss says you don’t have to register to attend, you can just show up.
