Nebraska's jobless rate rises to 2.7 in July

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A new state report says Nebraska's unemployment rate rose a tenth of a point to hit 2.7 percent in July.

The Nebraska Labor Department said in the report released Friday that the preliminary July rate is six-tenths of a point under the July 2014 rate of 3.3 percent.

The new Nebraska figure remained well below the preliminary national unemployment rate of 5.3 percent in July. U.S. Labor Department figures say Nebraska is trailed by North Dakota at 3 percent and Utah and Vermont at 3.6 percent.
