Omaha b-cycle program expanding

Omaha’s b-cycle program is expanding to three locations.

A location will soon open at 1819 Farnam Street, at the Omaha-Douglas Civic Center. It’ll be the first b-cycle station in downtown Omaha. Ben Turner, director of Omaha B-Cycle, says right now there are 33 b-cycles at five locations near UNO.

"We’ve had about 12 hundred rides in the first two years, as of August first we were ahead of where we were the first two years. We had more annual members this year than the previous two years combined, actually we’re about one or two short of that, so we’re doing well."

Turner’s comments came Tuesday during a presentation to the Douglas County Board of Commissioners. B-cycle locations are also planned for the Old Market and the Omaha riverfront. Details on those are expected to be released next week.
