Omaha Performing Arts Announces its 2016-2017 season

Omaha Performing Arts 2016/2017 season offers a diverse range of performance options for a wide range of audience tastes.

In addition to favorites like the Cabaret, The Sound of Music, Jersey Boys and Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, the Broadway Series includes Beautiful – the Carole King Musical that tells the inspiring story of King’s rise to stardom.

Joan Squires is President of OPA. She says Beautiful is not just a collection of Carole King songs.

"People will be surprised at what she wrote but it’s really the story of her life as a songwriter in New York, and her history up to when she found her own voice in Tapestry. But even songs like Locomotion and so many hits that people are familiar with…they didn’t know Carole King wrote them.  And it’s still selling out on Broadway and this is the first tour.”

The Broadway Series is rounded out by Rotten, a mash-up of 16th Century Shakespeare and 21st Century Broadway, and the 20th Anniversary tour of Rent.

Michael Lyon is a native of great Britain who immigrated to Los Angeles in 1981. His business background is in banking: residential real estate operations, mergers and acquisitions.
