Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett announced Tuesday he has stage 1 prostate cancer.

Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett has stage 1 prostate cancer.

Buffett told shareholders in a letter released Tuesday afternoon of his diagnosis. In the letter, the 81-year-old Buffett says "the good news is I've been told by my doctors that my condition is not remotely life-threatening or even debilitating in any meaningful way."

Buffett says he was diagnosed last Wednesday. Last Thursday, he had a CT scan and a bone scan. That was followed Tuesday by a MRI.

Douglas County Board holding three off-site meetings

The Douglas County Board is taking its meetings to different locations over the next three months.

Tuesday's Board of Commissioners meeting is at the Metro Community College South Omaha campus Industrial Training Center. May 22nd, the board will meet at Westside High School. A third offsite meeting is set for June 19th at the Omaha Public Schools TAC building. All meetings begin at 6:30 PM.

Requests for food assistance from Salvation Army up 36 percent

The Just Can It food drive is April 16-20.

The Salvation Army of Omaha says the need for assistance from their food pantry is up 36 percent.

The Salvation Army and UNO’s Just Can It food drive has a new partner this year: the city of Omaha. Next week, all three will collect donations will the Salvation Army’s food pantry. The city of Omaha will collect donations as part of its Tuna Tuesdays food drive.

South High School celebrates 50 years of show choir

Omaha South High School’s Ambassadors Show Choir is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

A 50 year reunion concert is scheduled for Saturday evening at South High School. The Ambassadors Show Choir began in 1962 as the Choralaires. Among the 100 participants in this weekend’s reunion show are members of that choir.
