Join us for the 11th annual UNMC Skate-a-Thon for Parkinson’s! This unique, family-friendly event is a 24-hour outdoor ice skating fundraiser to benefit UNMC Parkinson’s disease research and support the mission of Parkinson’s Nebraska. All proceeds stay right here in Nebraska to provide specialized exercises, support groups, professional trainings, and educational opportunities. The Skate-a-Thon began when its founder, Colleen Wuebben, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and was not able to find any services in Omaha. She saw a need so her family flooded the backyard, created an ice rink, and began raising money to provide specialized Parkinson's exercise classes. After her death in 2013, her family continued the tradition and have raised nearly $200,000 for Parkinson's disease research and services over the course of the event. The Skate-a-Thon is truly an experience. There will be music, food, drinks, games, prizes, dancing, pizza, a DJ, ice skating and FUN FUN FUN! Come to skate or come spectate... just come to experience the most FUNraising event in Omaha! Skaters can register as an individual ($15), family ($50), or a Rock the Clock team member ($15). All skaters are encouraged to collect pledges from their friends and family. The individual, family, and team that collects the most money will win a prize! Can’t make it out to the rink or not a fan of ice skating? No problem!
