100 Black Men of Omaha to Celebrate 25 Years of Mentoring Youth, Exec Dir Richard Webb Chats on KIOS

The mission of the 100 Black Men of Omaha is to improve the quality of life in Omaha by helping our youth to be Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Lead.  The 100 was established in 1995 when a group of concerned men realized that the survival of the Omaha community rested on their willingness to join together and be a vehicle for positive change.

The 100 is committed to the intellectual development of our youth and the empowerment of the African-American community based on the following precepts: respect for family, spirituality, justice and integrity. Members, mentors, volunteers and staff have leveraged resources to develop a system based on our “Four for The Future” pillars.  These pillars consist of Mentoring, Education, Health & Wellness and Economic Empowerment programs.  The 100 believes that if efforts are focused on these core areas, ultimately a foundation of success for “Youth with Promise” and the community will be created.

Richard Webb is the Executive Director of 100 Black Men of Omaha.  He stopped by the studios at 33rd and Burt to chat with Mike Hogan about his journey to and through the mentoring program, how he became an important part of the organization, and the success this group has had in the lives of young men here in Omaha.

The 25th anniversary celebration is set for April 17th.  Information about this gala event as well as about the organization as a whole can be found at https://100blackmenomaha.org/
