Vesper Concerts presents another one-of-a-kind Choral Collaborative Residency featuring Dr. Derrick Fox and the choirs of University of Nebraska-Omaha and the Central High School Choir directed by Lyn Bouma. Reflections of Us: Singing Our Way to Unity is March 10, 2020, 7:30 p.m. at Strauss Performing Arts Center, UNO.
This concert will feature the ground-breaking choral composition “Seven Last Words of the Unarmed,” a work by Joel Thompson addressing complex issues of race and violence. Joel will be in attendance for this special performance.
Dr. Derrick Fox, Director of Choral Activities at UNO, was kind enough to swing by the studios at 33rd and Burt to chat with Mike Hogan about the social relevance of this concert, the thought provoking ideas presented, and the hope that the entire experience will generate conversation, reconciliation, and unity.
And just to share an off-air, behind the scenes moment, as Derrick Fox and Mike Hogan met for the first time, it was discovered that Derrick taught high school at Mike's alma mater in St. Louis. A small world indeed!
