DCEC Seeks Election Day Volunteers As Requests For Mail-In Ballots Flood In

Thousands of Douglas County residents are applying to vote by mail in the November election.  Douglas County Election Commissioner Brian Kruse says his office has received more than 100-thousand requests for mail-in ballots so far.  Ballots won't be mailed out until September 28th, but the deadline to request a ballot is October 23rd at 6:00 p.m. Douglas County election officials are also calling for volunteers to work at the November 3rd election. The Commission says poll workers will be provided personal protective equipment, hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes, and they'll be trained on social distancing procedures to minimize touch points for themselves and voters. In a news release Monday, Commissioner Kruse said election workers who are older than 60 or those who have medical issues will understandably choose not to work.  More info can be found at vote-douglas-county-dot-com.
