ConAgra to employees: About 40 IT jobs to be cut in Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — ConAgra Foods has told employees it will eliminate about 40 information-technology jobs as the packaged food company looks to slash its payroll in Omaha and elsewhere.

The Omaha World-Herald says (http://bit.ly/1Muflho ) ConAgra revealed the cuts Friday morning in a memo obtained by the newspaper. The memo says the 40 positions will be eliminated over the next six months. Those workers supported a project to roll out a supply-chain management system in ConAgra plants.

The Friday announcement came two weeks after ConAgra CEO Sean Connolly announced the company would move its corporate headquarters from Omaha to Chicago by next summer, relocate 300 jobs to Chicago, and lay off about 1,000 more Omaha workers.

ConAgra has said the jobs being eliminated are primarily redundant positions or jobs that will be outsourced.
