Covid Patients Filling ICU Beds Once More

EU

The Douglas County Health Department reports 137 new confirmed COVID-19 infections over the weekend.  The total number of cases now tops 73-thousand.  There were no new deaths reported, so that toll remains at 737.  Officials say just under 53-percent of all Douglas County residents have received one dose of the vaccine. Meanwhile, COVID ICU beds are filling up in Omaha.  Nebraska Medicine says its 25 bed unit is at capacity with COVID patients, which is forcing officials to move non-COVID patients to make room for the sickest admissions.  Healthcare workers are pleading with residents who are eligible to get the COVID vaccine to help reduce the spread of the more contagious and virulent Delta strain.
