Douglas County health officials want public input on priorities

The Douglas County Health Department and Live Well Omaha want to know what residents think are the county’s most pressing health issues.

The groups are working together on a community health improvement plan. A Community Health Needs Assessment identified 12 areas of opportunity to improve the health and well-being of Douglas County residents.

Health Department director Dr. Adi Pour says they want the public’s help to narrow the areas of focus.

"You can do that by going to the website www.douglascohealth.org, or you can put in Health Matters in Douglas County and it will lead you to that website. On that website, you will find there’s only one question on there that says choose three health topics from these 12 opportunities. And that is what we are asking the community."

The survey is open through November 17.

Dr. Pour says the areas identified as priorities will become part of a strategic plan that health officials work on over the next three years.
