Fire heavily damages apartments in Omaha suburb

BELLEVUE, Neb. (AP) — A fire has all but destroyed an apartment building in the Omaha suburb of Bellevue.

The blaze erupted a little before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Gateway Park Apartments. Authorities say two people were hospitalized Tuesday for medical problems and a firefighter was treated for a back sprain.

The building's roof collapsed, and the occupants of its two dozen units were left homeless.

It was the second fire in a less than a week at the apartments. Authorities say a fire erupted on a third-floor apartment balcony Friday, but it was quickly extinguished without causing much damage. Both fires are being investigated.
