Holiday Lights Kicks off on Thanksgiving

The 13th annual Holiday Lights Festivalkicks off Thanksgiving evening at 6:00 p.m.

That’s when Mayor Jim Suttle will light up the Gene Leahy Mall.  Chris Kircher, Vice President of Corporate Affairs for ConAgra, says this year CenturyLink will be handing out LED lights to the first 3,000 people in attendance.

He says they want people to light their lights at the same time as the mayor switches on the lights downtown.

"Following that, there will be a Making Spirits Bright Concert at that evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Holland Performing Arts Center and that’s a free concert.  Many of the stores and restaurants in the Old Market will be open on Thanksgiving.  And that’s just the start of six weeks of activities and family-friendly events.”

Kircher says other activities include Sounds of the Season concerts on Saturdays at the mall, the Wells Fargo Family Festival on Sunday, December 2nd and the New Year’s Eve Fireworks Spectacular.
