Iowa West announces $5 million in grant/initiative funding

The Iowa West Foundation’s Board of Directors approved more than $5 million in grants and initiatives for 19 nonprofits and government organizations in southwest Iowa and eastern Nebraska.

Pete Tulipana, President & CEO of the Iowa West Foundation, says all of the projects have the common goal of making the city of Council Bluffs a better place to live, work and play.

Tulipana says the Iowa West Foundation funded a new city image campaign as well as community-based Wi-Fi for the city of Council Bluffs.

He says this phase of the BLink Wi-Fi initiative will expand the city’s Wi-Fi further east of North 16th Street to the existing downtown Wi-Fi zone.

"We’ve provided some emergency funding to the Area Connections Area Agency on Aging to ensure that senior citizens in Pottawattamie County could continue to begin or receive Meals on Wheels.  There was an issue with regard to their funding where they had a short-term problem so we helped solved that issue.  And one final example is continued funding of El Centro Latino of Council Bluffs.”
