Omaha Performing Arts invites you to the following upcoming performances in May:
Lizz Wright/Thursday, May 16th at 7:30PM
Acclaimed jazz vocalist Lizz Wright brings brilliant color and vibrancy to original works and compositions by some of the greatest songwriters of our time. Through an inimitable voice that The New York Times touts as, “a smooth, dark alto possessed of qualities you might associate with barrel-aged bourbon or butter-soft leather,” Wright sings with a soaring reflection of the cultural fabric of America.
Marilyn Maye/Friday, May 24th at 7:30PM/1200 Club/Scott Recital Hall
Marilyn Maye is a highly praised singer, actress, director, arranger, educator, a Grammy-nominated recording artist and a musical treasure. Her entire life has been committed to the art of song and performance.
Boney James Live with Chad Stoner Band/Saturday May 25th 7:00pm
Boney James delivers a night of smooth and soulful jazz! The four-time Grammy® nominee is a powerhouse saxophonist and skilled songwriter and record producer. The New York Time raves, “James performs with panache. His arc as a soloist is emotional...he can paint a scene.” His latest album, “Honestly,” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Jazz Albums Chart with a sound that blends jazz with R&B and pop. He’s racked up sales of more than 3 million records, four RIAA gold albums, a Soul Train Award, nominations for two NAACP Image Awards and 10 CDs atop Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Albums chart. Billboard named James one of the Top 3 Contemporary Jazz Artists of The Decade along with Kenny G and Norah Jones.
