Lawsuits in Nebraska man's drowning will be tried together

BELLEVUE, Neb. (AP) — Two lawsuits related to a Bellevue man's drowning last year will be tried together.

The Omaha World-Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1IWSNFg ) that Sarpy County District Court Judge Max Kelch consolidated two civil lawsuits Monday that were filed by Kimberley J. Farr on behalf of her son, David Michael Farr.

Farr died last year after driving into floodwater in Bellevue. After climbing out of his vehicle, he was sucked into a storm drainage tube and drowned.

In May, Kimberley Farr sued BirchCrest Apartments, which owns the property next to where her son was swept away, and the Seldin Company, which manages the apartments. In October, she sued the city of Bellevue.

The companies' response to the lawsuits alleges that Farr's death was the result of his own negligence.
