League of Women Voters of Greater Omaha Continues to Add Voters to the Rolls

The Omaha League of Women Voters has been actively registering voters.  According to Joanna Lindberg, Co-Chair of the LWV’s Get out the Vote Committee, they have registered 657 individuals at 84 events and anticipate about 20 more events before election day November 6th

Lindberg says they have also been working with Omaha Public Schools’ American Government classes to see that every eligible student has the opportunity to register to vote.  She says these students will receive a post card and text reminders to vote.  They will also be notified when the League’s Voters' Guide is available.

Lindberg says the LWV’s Voters’ Guide will be available at local library branches as well as on the user-friendly website on October 1st

“I think the important thing is, you know, vote411.org, so that people that are registered now can go to a site and get non-partisan, neutral information about each candidate that will be in their district. And the nice thing about that guide is that you put your address and zip code in, and it pulls up exactly who you will be voting for in your neighborhood, and it makes it really easy.”

Lindberg says the League is also creating videos and handouts called, “Three Steps to Voting,” in four different languages for citizens in Omaha’s refugee and immigrant communities.

And they have links to recorded candidate forums on their website as well.

For more information the website is omahalwv.org , or vote411.org for the Voters’ Guide.
