Legislature cancels hearings, debate Tuesday for snowstorm

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska Legislature has canceled all of its hearings and debate on Tuesday in anticipation of a blizzard that's expected to dump 8 inches of snow on Lincoln.

Speaker of the Legislature Galen Hadley says he decided to cancel all activities to ensure the safety of lawmakers, their staffs and the public. Lawmakers will still check in at 10 a.m. Tuesday, but will adjourn for the day as soon as they have a quorum.

The Legislature will reconvene and resume its regular business on Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Hadley says legislative hearings that were set to take place on Tuesday have been rescheduled for Feb. 9, starting at 9 a.m.
