MAPA is asking for public input on six transportation scenarios

The Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Area Planning Agency is asking for the public’s assistance in ranking transportation scenarios for particular project areas.

Michael Felschow, MAPA Program Director, says the scenarios are part of the development of the 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan.

He says there are six scenarios but each one covers all modes of transportation just at different levels of intensity.

"The first package is more of a visionary package.  If we just wanted to do everything that we could possibly do.  The second package leans more on the interstate system and freeways than on arterials.  Then there’s one for major arterials.  There’s one that tries to solve the congestion problems with innovative transportation improvements like smart signals and trying to use more technology and transit."

Public meetings are scheduled through June 14th.

There is a meeting on Friday, June 10th at Aromas Coffee House at 10th and Jones Streets at 4:00 p.m. and another one on Saturday, June 11th at Omaha North High Magnet School at 9:00 a.m.
