Nebraskan imprisoned for mail fraud; must pay restitution

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A 67-year-old Nebraska woman has been imprisoned for mail fraud.

Federal prosecutors say Marian Korbelik was sentenced Monday to a year and a day and ordered to pay more than $64,000 in restitution. Korbelik must serve three years of supervised release after she leaves custody.

In October she pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud. Prosecutors say that from 2006 through 2011, Korbelik sent falsified financial reports to an out-of-state company she worked for as a part-time bookkeeper. She wrote company checks to herself for payments of what she disguised in the reports as legitimate business expenses.
