New Report Focuses on Clinical Trials in Nebraska

Jeff Trewhitt, spokesman for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, authored the new report “Research in your Backyard: Developing Cures, Creating Jobs.”

Trewhitt says the report is focused on the clinical trials conducted in Nebraska. He says more than 2,000 clinical trials of new medicines have been conducted in the state over the past 14 years.

These trials are being run by biopharmaceutical companies working in close collaboration with local research institutions.

"Nebraska is not only strong in cattle, corn and agriculture in general. It also has a strong, respectable bio-medical research infrastructure.  Creighton University is conducting a number of clinical trials and so is the University of Nebraska Medical Center."

Trewhitt says these clinical trials have benefited patients, advanced science and improved the state’s economy.  Trewhitt presented his report at UNMC this morning.
