Omaha and Fremont Reconnect!

The Nebraska Department of Transportation reopened West Maple Road (Highway 64) Tuesday morning in the wake of record flooding that shut-down the highway on Friday.  The move cleared a path to connect Valley and Fremont with Omaha.

Late Monday, NDOT reopened southbound Highway 75 south of Omaha, Cass County officials confirmed.

The lanes had been closed due to flooding south of Highway 34. The northbound lanes remained closed in the area Tuesday morning.

Other highways back open Tuesday morning include:

  • HWY 36, HWY 31 - HWY 275
  • HWY 64 (West Maple) from Omaha to Waterloo
  • HWY 275, Maple - HWY 30 (Fremont)
  • HWY 50 at Louisville
  • HWY 31, from HWY 50 to Buffalo Rd
  • HWY 77 south to Lincoln
  • HWY 64 (West Maple) both directions open to HWY 275

However, hundreds of miles of highways and interstates remain closed across Nebraska and Iowa as road crews wait for flood waters to recede so they can get a look at the damage.
