Omaha Salvation Army to hold ID theft prevention seminar

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The Salvation Army in Omaha, in conjunction with Cox Communications, will hold a free identity theft prevention seminar later this month.

The event takes place Oct. 21 at the Scott Conference Center in Omaha.

The seminar, titled "Shield Your Identity," will provide practical tips to help participants better protect themselves from identity theft. It will include tips from privacy protection experts and information from the Better Business Bureau and the University of Nebraska at Omaha's Chief Information Security Officer, Matt Morton, on the latest cyber security threats.

October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

The event is free and open to the public, but requires a reservation. Those wanting to participate may register online at salarmyomaha.org/shieldyouridentity or contact Mandi Behn at 402-898-7699 by Wednesday.
