A first-of-its-kind digital library is set to open Saturday in Omaha.
Do Space was announced last December. Its home is the building at 72nd and Dodge Streets that was once a Borders bookstore.
Do Space features a lab for creating and printing 3D projects, an open computer lab with more than 200 workstations, and an interactive room for teenagers.
There’s also technology for the youngest learners. Do Space executive director Rebecca Stavick says the library will offer a program several times a week called Littles Lab.
David Lempke, an architect and Design Principal for HDR, says the design grew out of one question: what would the library of the future look like? He says Do Space is open and inviting, and about access to technology for all.
The Omaha Public Library and Metropolitan Community College are partners in Do Space. MCC plans to offer classes there.
