OPS to begin superintendent candidate interviews this week

The Omaha Public Schools board will begin interviewing candidates Tuesday for superintendent.

Last week, board members met with Gary Solomon of Wilmette, Illinois,-based Proact Search, the firm searching for candidates. Solomon presented a list of 68 applicants for the OPS superintendent job. Of that list, 11 candidates were presented to the OPS board for consideration. The six semifinalists will be interviewed Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday in closed sessions.

Following this week’s interviews, three finalists will be chosen, and announced at a December 7 special meeting. Public forums with the three superintendent candidate finalists will follow.

OPS has set a December 17 deadline to name a new superintendent.
