Refugee Empowerment Center Helps Many Fleeing Violence Reach the American Dream, Amanda Kohler Chats

The Refugee Empowerment Center (REC) assists refugees who are transitioning from their own culture to American life.  They focus on helping refugees live and work productively, further their education, and achieve a better life for themselves and their children.

Amanda Kohler is Executive Director of the Refugee Empowerment Center.  She stopped by the KIOS-FM studios with two guests, Jean and Jamal, to chat with Mike Hogan "Live & Local" about how REC is able to empower refugees to integrate into their new homes and obtain the skills necessary for economic self-sufficiency.

The three of them also discussed the hand-made candle sales, with proceeds directly benefitting the daily efforts of REC.  REC is grateful to the Omaha community for uniting in solidarity to support refugees in becoming healthy and successful members of the community we all share.

If you would like to get some of the hand-made, scented candles, you can stop by the Refugee Empowerment Center at 3610 Dodge Street, Suite 100, Omaha NE 68131 between the hours of Mon-Fri: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. or give a donation online at https://refugeeempowerment.org/donate/
