Schwab Officially Buying TD Ameritrade

Charles Schwab is officially purchasing Omaha-based TD Ameritrade.  The companies announced this morning Schwab will buy TD Ameritrade for 26-billion dollars, creating a company worth more than five-trillion dollars in assets.  Six News reports the corporate headquarters will relocate to Schwab's new campus in Westlake, Texas.

The "Omaha World-Herald" reports that Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts said the acquisition of TD Ameritrade creates uncertainty for thousands of Nebraskans who have worked for the company.  TD Ameritrade was founded by the governor's father, Joe Ricketts, and Governor Ricketts once served as the brokerage firm's Chief Operating Officer.
