Summer Jazz in the Great Outdoors

Outdoor music series to continue through Labor DayBy Chris Cooke

Omaha, Nebraska – If you've put off seeing live jazz music in a local park or recreation area this summer, why not enjoy the opportunity while it lasts?

Local jazz musicians are performing at parks, plazas, and other outdoor venues in the Omaha area through Labor Day. For your consideration are three local music series which present free admission concerts.

The Jazz on the Plaza series is underway at the First National Bank Plaza, 16th and Dodge Streets. Live music is presented Tuesday and Fridays during the lunch hour for your enjoyment, starting at 11:30am and ending at 1:30pm.

The Jazz Night Series at One Pacific Place presents live music with local area musicians on Friday evenings. The music starts at 5:30pm and goes until 7:30pm, at the fireplace area in the middle of One Pacific Place at 103rd and Pacific.

An annual summer presentation of the Omaha Musicians Association, the Music in the Parks series features performances with local area musicians in area parks and outdoor venues. Dates, times and venues vary. For more details visit the website at http://www.omahamusic.com/ or listen to Jazz in the Afternoon throughout the week for updated outdoor concert announcements.

Chris Cooke is the host of Jazz in the Afternoon and Last Call on KIOS-FM.
