Terry Concedes to Ashford

In a press conference earlier this afternoon, 2nd congressional district incumbent Republican Lee Terry conceded to challenger Democrat State Senator Brad Ashford.

Terry talked about the support his wife Robin had given him over the years, and that he was honored to be elected eight times by voters in the second congressional district to represent them.

Terry said putting people and the country first was always his goal.  He said he will assist Ashford however he can.

"I want to congratulate Brad Ashford on winning this election.  I wish him well and I have already told him in this transition we will be as helpful as we are legally allowed to be and congratulate him and wish him well in representing the 2nd congressional district.”

Douglas County Election Commissioner Dave Phipps said his office is continuing to count ballots and will release an update on Friday.

Ashford will officially become the 2nd congressional district representative on December 1st when the state canvassing board meets.
