Trauma Matters Omaha website launches

Trauma Matters Omaha is a new website focused on providing information and resources to trauma victims.

Angela Roeber, Director of Communications for Project Harmony, says Trauma Matters Omaha.org was created out of a vision the organization had back in 2016 when the mayor proclaimed Omaha as a trauma informed city.

Roeber says there was a landing page on the Project Harmony website but it limited the group in the amount of information and sources they could provide.

She says they wanted the website to be an initiative that involved the whole community.  Roeber says that way, everyone could feel ownership in it.

"On the website you can learn more about what trauma is.  Right now there’s still a misconception that trauma is the result of a car accident or an assault.  But it’s much more than that.  Trauma includes interpersonal violence, social violence, natural disasters, chronic social stressors and childhood trauma such as a physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse and neglect.”

Roeber explains what makes the site unique is that you can find your ACE score live and in real-time.  ACE stands for Adverse Childhood Experiences.

She says you can see how it compares to others in Omaha.  Roeber thinks this is important so individuals can see they are not alone.  She says the website also lists events and training sessions in the community.

For more information, the website is TraumaMattersOmaha.org.
