You can give back this season with UWM's "Holiday Helper" project

For many, the holiday season is about giving back to others.

If you’ve decided you want to volunteer somewhere during the holidays but just aren’t sure where, the United Way of the Midlands offers a variety of options.

Dani Ohlman, Manager of Community Investments for United Way, says UWM’s Holiday Helpers mobilizes the caring power of individuals and families during the holiday season and puts them to work on various projects in all different areas and agencies.

She says United Way is pleased and honored to connect individuals who want to volunteer in the community with different agencies that need assistance during the holidays.

"We have a need for volunteers help staff at an agency with sorting an inventory of toys for children in need and also setting up decorations in their agency for a Christmas event.  We have opportunities for individuals who would like to go carol at one of our homeless shelters here in the community.  We also have volunteer projects that include decorating for holiday parties for agency clients.”

To find out more about becoming a Holiday Helper, the website is UnitedWayMidlands.org.  Once you’re there, click on the “ways to engage” tab.

There are opportunities to volunteer available through the end of the year.
