Earliest Known Area Human Inhabitants

We hear about archeological site 13PW5, a.k.a. the Lewis Central School site in Council Bluffs. This Archaic era ossuary is the earliest known example of human remnants discovered in the Omaha Metro Area.

Special thanks to local historian Troy Stolp for sharing this story. Troy's knowledge and enthusiasm for the history of the Missouri river and its shaping of human habitation over the millennia here is just infectious.
