Nebraska billionaire Walter Scott has died at the age of 90. The Suzanne and Walter Scott Foundation that Scott founded said Scott died Saturday. The foundation did not mention a cause of death. Scott was the past top executive of Peter Kiewit Sons Inc. construction firm. He helped oversee Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway conglomerate and donated to various causes, particularly construction projects around Omaha. Scott served as a board member of Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway conglomerate from 1988 until his death.

Investor Warren Buffett said the economic impact of the pandemic remains hard to predict but most big companies have fared OK throughout it as long as they weren't tied to travel. Buffett and his partner Charlie Munger said in an interview that U.S. regulators should do more to restrict the amount of gambling in financial markets by limiting how much investors and banks can borrow on margin. Munger praised the financial regulations that Chinese regulators have put in place to limit speculation.

Warren Buffett resigned Wednesday as trustee of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which says it will announce plans in July to answer questions raised about its leadership structure. The announcement from Buffett comes weeks after Bill and Melinda Gates announced that they were divorcing after 27 years of marriage but would continue to jointly run the foundation. It's one of the largest charitable foundations in the world. Buffett also said Wednesday that he is halfway to reaching his goal of giving away the entirety of his shares in Berkshire Hathaway, his company.

Investor Warren Buffett’s right-hand man says the U.S. stock market is overvalued, but he doesn’t know when the bubble will burst. Billionaire Charlie Munger is a vice chairman at Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway conglomerate. Munger said Wednesday that the recent frenzy over GameStop’s stock was driven by small investors gambling on the stock market. He says the investors are playing the stock market like bettors at a horse rate. Munger says inexperienced investors are being lured into the market by newer brokerages like Robinhood that offer commission-free trading.

Investor Warren Buffett says he would gladly trade places with any of today’s college graduates even with the uncertain times because of the opportunity they have ahead of them. Buffett recently recorded a graduation speech that will be aired this weekend at his alma mater, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In the talk, Buffett said graduates should feel lucky to get the education they did and to have the chance to start their careers in the United States today.

Philanthropist Doris Buffett has died.  The "Omaha World-Herald" reports that the sister of Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett passed away on Tuesday at her home in Rockport, Maine, at the age of 92.  Doris Buffett established the Sunshine Lady Foundation and the Letters Foundation, supported a college program for prison inmates and gave money to struggling single mothers.

Investor Warren Buffett doesn’t know how the economy will recover from the coronavirus outbreak shutdown, but he remains optimistic in the long-term future of the United States. Buffett said Saturday at Berkshire Hathaway’s online annual meeting that there’s no way to predict the economic future right now because the possibilities are still too varied. Berkshire’s meeting was being held without any of the roughly 40,000 shareholders who typically attend. Instead of answering questions in a packed arena filled with shareholders, Buffett spoke in front of a camera for the online meeting.

An abbreviated Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders meeting will take place this weekend.  The usual festivities, which draw more than 30-thousand visitors to Omaha, have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Berkshire CEO Warren Buffett and vice-chairman of Berkshire's non-insurance operations Greg Abel will hold a question and answer session which will be streamed on Yahoo.com starting Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Central Time.

Coronavirus could impact the upcoming Berkshire Hathaway convention.  WOWT reports that Berkshire CEO Warren Buffett noted that coronavirus may have an effect on the convention because shareholders come to Omaha from all over the world.  Nearly 40-thousand shareholders gather in Omaha each year for the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting, which will take place on May 2nd at the CHI Health Center Arena.

Billionaire Warren Buffett is giving up on the newspaper business. He's selling all of Berkshire Hathaway's publications to Lee Enterprises for $140 million. The deal announced Wednesday covers 31 daily newspapers in 10 states as well as 49 paid weekly publications with digital sites and 32 other print products. Buffett is a lifelong fan of newspapers but he has said for several years that he expects most of them to continue on their declining trajectory, save for a handful of national papers such as The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.

Warren Buffett's company reported an 11% decline in third-quarter profits because of a smaller increase in the paper value of its investments.

Buffett played bridge with shareholders Sunday at the Borsheims jewelry store that Berkshire owns. He also made several appearances at private dinners for shareholders.

More than 40,000 people attended Saturday's annual meeting to listen to Buffett and Berkshire Vice Chaiman Charlie Munger answer questions for several hours.

The annual Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting brought visitors from all over the U.S., and the world, to Omaha.

Berkshire Hathaway hosted a series of events in Omaha for shareholders during the meeting weekend. Saturday’s meeting brought at least 35,000 shareholders to downtown.
