FBI Task Force

The FBI has established a keen focus on fighting hate crimes.  In fact, they are asking the public to be diligent in reporting not only hate crimes, but also civil rights violations and color of law crimes.

Omaha based Special Agent in Charge (SAC), Eugene Kowel, joined Mike Hogan for a two-part discussion on the action the FBI is taking, the differences between hate crimes, color of law crimes, and civil rights violations, as well as the current and future training of agents.

Omaha FBI Office Warns Public About COVID Vaccine Scams

(Omaha, NE)  --  The FBI Omaha Office is warning people who have gotten COVID vaccines about a new scam. 

Agent Bryan VanDeun says the scammers are looking to get personal information by promising respondents a prize or money in return for doing a survey.  He says none of the COVID vaccine manufacturers are conducting surveys and that emails and texts with surveys are scams.

Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Kristi Johnson is in charge of the FBI Omaha Field Office.  The Omaha field office covers Nebraska and Iowa.  SAC Johnson spent a little "Live & Local" time with Mike Hogan to discuss many topics including "Operation LeGend," the multiple task forces that the FBI is operating in Omaha and Des Moines, Civil Rights Investigations, Color of Law Investigations, as well as the best part of her job.

Ten arrests were made yesterday (Thursday) by the FBI’s Greater Omaha Safe Streets Task Force. This was the culmination of a year-long operation targeting narcotics and weapon trafficking by an Omaha gang.  Four arrests were made in early May as part of the operation.

The FBI’s Greater Omaha Safe Streets Task Force includes the Omaha Police Department, Bellevue Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff, La Vista Police Department, Council Bluffs Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol, and DEA.
