Fremont Considers Ground Drones

The city of Fremont is considering a ground drone proposal.  Methodist Fremont Health wants to acquire drones and use them as mobile security officers on the hospital campus. Fremont city officials are considering a plan for drone boundaries for the Methodist Fremont and downtown areas.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation reopened West Maple Road (Highway 64) Tuesday morning in the wake of record flooding that shut-down the highway on Friday.  The move cleared a path to connect Valley and Fremont with Omaha.

Late Monday, NDOT reopened southbound Highway 75 south of Omaha, Cass County officials confirmed.

The lanes had been closed due to flooding south of Highway 34. The northbound lanes remained closed in the area Tuesday morning.

A Nebraska city walled off by massive flooding is getting a big lift from private pilots who are offering free flights to shuttle stranded residents to and from their hometown.

Authorities say flooding from the Platte River and other waterways is so bad that just one highway lane into Fremont remains uncovered, and access to that road is severely restricted.

(Fremont, NE)  --  Pilots are providing flood relief to residents in Fremont.  As of this past weekend, the town was surrounded by floodwater and nearly all roads to the community remained closed.  Pilots are flying supplies to Fremont including food and water.  Officials say anyone who needs to fly into or out of Fremont can do so for free, and flights will continue today.
