2020 Improvements at KIOS

Jan 2, 2020

As part of ongoing maintenance and upgrades here at the KIOS studios, the station may be off the air and offline briefly.

This January 7th and 8th, KIOS will install new computer automation and audio management equipment to improve our on-the-air and online reliability.  This work could result in signal or streaming interruptions during that time.

We apologize for any inconvenience, and we thank you for the support that helps make KIOS better able to serve you, the listener and member!

Thank you so much for your participation in our one-day pledge drive!  Because of you, we were able to hit our goal of 150 pledges.  You have really helped us end the calendar year on a hopeful note.  Hopeful that in 2020 we will be able to accomplish our goal of replacing aging equipment and continue the mission of providing the entire community with the NPR programming, local news, music, and feature programs that the Omaha/Council Bluffs community demands.

For those of you who did not have the chance to participate in the pledge drive while it was live, you still have the opportunity to show your support before year's end.  Simply go to KIOS.org to donate any time by clicking on the Donate button.

Just a reminder, about 2/3 of the finances needed to keep KIOS-FM programming alive and well comes from donations from listeners and from underwriters.  The year ahead will be quite a financial challenge for KIOS, but with your help we can reach our goals in providing the quality programming and transmission that you deserve.

We treasure each and every one of our listeners and supporters.  We thank you for a wonderful year and, with great optimism, wish you all the very best for a healthy, happy 2020.  We look forward to sharing our 51st year with all of you.

Happy Holidays!

KIOS, 91.5 FM is proud to announce our new toll-free telephone number.  Now listeners and members can call toll-free from across the country at 877-915-KIOS (877-915-5467).

This new number, along with the ever expanding streaming offerings, podcasts, archived interviews, and expanding social media and web offerings are all a part of a larger mission: to continue to provide our listeners with the local programming and national NPR content whenever, wherever, and however our listeners choose to enjoy it.

Marc May

As part of its 50th anniversary celebration, KIOS had the privilege of hosting renowned NPR journalist and former All Things Considered host Susan Stamberg at Joslyn Art Museum's Witherspoon Concert Hall on Wednesday, September 25th, 2019.

Her conversation with KIOS' Development Director Michael Lyon ranged from her start in public radio and the early days of All Things Considered to the future of public radio journalism and women's place in advancing the medium.
