The Nebraska Wind Symphony has a new concert on Sunday, February 16, 2020 called “In Two Places.”  The show begins at 3:00 PM at the Omaha Conservatory of Music, (7023 Cass St, Omaha, NE.)

This winter concert features NWS Middle School All-Star Saxophones, Dr. Patrick Brown, saxophone soloist, and Dr. Adam Fontana, guest conductor.  This concert explores repertoire that includes many wonderful American classics as well as contemporary works for winds that challenge the listener to think differently about many aspects of our day-to-day lives.

Dr. Joshua Kearney is the new Music Director and he joins Mike Hogan "Live & Local" to discuss the show and the participation of the youth in such a production.  Josh is also Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Nebraska Wind Symphony Music Director, Larry MacTaggart is on sabbatical for this season.  But the symphony and the music play on in his absence!  All concerts this year will be under the direction of Visiting Music Director, Josh Kearney.  And the Fall Concert is Sunday, October 20, 2019 – titled “NWS Spooktacular” – at 3:00 PM.

Josh was kind enough to swing by the KIOS-FM studios to introduce himself to Mike Hogan and the "Live & Local" radio audience this morning.  His enthusiasm, respect for the music, and new love for the city Omaha come alive during this morning's chat.
