Omaha Virtual School

Omaha Virtual School (OVS) is a full-time, tuition-free, program within Omaha Public Schools. Instruction is delivered through a blended learning environment, combining the benefits of the virtual and traditional classrooms.  Blended learning enhances online learning with opportunities for labs, guest speakers, field trips, and other face-to-face cooperative learning.

The format of our program enables parents to be actively involved and allows students to take ownership of their learning.  Students may work quickly through the areas they understand, take their time in areas that need extra attention, and put an emphasis on subjects that interest them most.

Director of Omaha Virtual School, Wendy Loewenstein, joined Mike Hogan in a socially distanced "Live & Local" interview to discuss the school and to invite everyone to the informational virtual sessions on June 10th and July 8th.  you can join either one of those sessions using the links below.

Providing a unique learning opportunity for parents to be more involved in their student's education.  That's the goal of an Omaha Public Schools program that uses technology to promote what the district calls blended learning.  This is the program's fourth year.  There are currently more than 200 kindergarten through 11th grade students enrolled at Omaha Virtual School.

Director of the Omaha Virtual School, Dr. Wendy Loewenstein, stops by the KIOS-FM studios to chat with Mike Hogan about how this school is a combination of in-person and at-home learning.  For example, once a week, students go to a classroom setting at the TAC building.

There is still time to register students for this free program.  The last "Info-session" before the start of the school year is Tuesday, July 23rd at 9:30am at Abrahams Library.  It is free and open to the public.
