Douglas Co. Commissioner Kraft Retiring

Douglas County Commissioner Marc Kraft is retiring.  Kraft announced he won't be seeking another term in the 2020 election, saying he decided to retire after dealing with some extended health issues.  He's served three terms on the county board and two terms on the Omaha City Council.


Nebraska Best State For Retirement

(Undated, NE)  --  A new report says Nebraska is the best state in the country for retirement.  According to Bankrate-dot-com, the Cornhusker State ranked in the top 20 in three out of five categories considered for the rankings, wellness, weather, crime, culture, and affordability.  Neighboring Iowa ranked second overall while Missouri, South Dakota, and Florida rounded out the top five.

Retirement Plan Study Advances

Nebraska lawmakers are giving approval to a study covering the possible transfer of the management of the Omaha Public Schools' retirement plan.  The measure directs the Public Employees Retirement Board to work with several groups to prepare a plan to move management duties of the Omaha school retirement plan to the state.  The plan, which would outline costs and timelines, must be completed by June 2020.

The Omaha Public Library’s retirement transition series starts tomorrow and runs through April 24th.
